In the anime, the character Shiryu is recreated in the present time. Shiryu has been killed by a Sinbad Daimaou who has the capacity to take over the devil cult. Shiryu is revived by the god Athena and returns to the school of the goddess that he used to be in. Shiryu is joined by his friends from the Seiya, and those without the capacity to take over the god cult are joined by the new characters.
