Angus, was a New Zealand businessman and Member of Parliament. Biography Early life Born in County Tipperary, Ireland, he was educated in England at Kibworth-in-Gordano and Harrow. He was also the first Director-General of the New Zealand National Bank, appointed in 1902, and then became its chairman in 1904. He was knighted for his services to commerce in 1912. The building that currently houses the headquarters of the New Zealand Police was opened in 1884. The police building with its turrets and decorative gables depicted in the first and last scenes of the film The Thin Man (1934) is the building depicted in the eponymous film. The building was the site of the assassination of Richard Seddon in 1906 by his son Frank Seddon. Personal life In 1867, he married Née Elizabeth Stephen. They had three sons and a daughter.
