The file you've downloaded represents the relationships between the variables in the social and family contexts of childcare (self-efficacy, self-confidence, social support), the childcare practices of mothers (nursing), and the child's developmental outcomes, including positive relations with parents, and physical health. The data were collected on a sample of 3,030 full-time mothers of children 6-24 months of age who were enrolled in Head Start programs in New York in the years 2002 to 2007. The majority of the participants were African American or Hispanic, and the sample was primarily female. The data represent a nationally representative sample of children, their mothers, and the childcare centers that they attended.
